Frequently Asked Questions
About Longdog & Whisker
Who are Longdog & Whisker?
We’re Tasha and Mike, a tiny independent jewellery brand based in York. Tasha is a body piercer, jewellery-maker and animal lover; Mike runs Longdog & Whisker full-time.
We’re small, practical and hands-on. Orders are packed by us, products are chosen by us, and the details matter to us: quick dispatch, cute packaging, clear product information and pieces that feel fun to gift or keep.
Do you make the jewellery yourselves?
We hand assemble our jewellery, but we do not cast the charms ourselves.
That means we carefully source finished charms we love, then turn them into earrings, necklaces, keyrings and bag charms by adding the hooks, chains, fittings and finishing touches. We care about how each piece hangs, feels and arrives.
Do you use AI?
Yes, we do.
We use AI to help with the website, product pages, shop organisation and product imagery. Without it, a tiny business like ours would struggle to sell online properly or keep up with bigger retailers.
Mike’s marketing background helps us build tools that make the shop easier to run, but AI does not replace the real work we care about: choosing products, assembling jewellery, packing orders, helping customers and giving back through selected charity pieces.
Are your product photos AI generated?
Some of our product images are AI-assisted, yes.
We start with multiple real photos of the actual product. AI then helps us combine those photos into a clear, true-to-form product image, and sometimes place the item in different scenes so you can better picture the style.
A small business like ours could not realistically afford professional photoshoots for 150+ products and still bring out new pieces quickly at sensible prices. We use AI to make the product images clearer and more useful, not to mislead you.
Are you trying to hide that you use AI?
No. That’s exactly why we’re saying it here.
We are not trying to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes. We are trying to compete with much bigger businesses without losing the human bit. You can see the real-life side of Longdog & Whisker through our social media, customer reviews, charity updates, stalls and events.
How do your charity donations work?
Selected designs donate 10% of our profit to small dog, cat and Pride charities. The supported cause is identified on eligible products.
Do all products donate to charity?
Not every single item, but many of them do. Any piece that supports a charity will clearly say so in the product description, and you’ll see which cause it’s linked to: dog, cat or Pride.
Can I choose which charity my order supports?
At the moment, each collection is linked to specific partner charities, so your donation follows the piece you choose. If you’d like to see us support a particular charity in future, we’d love to hear your suggestions. Just pop us a message.
Orders & Shipping
Where do you ship from?
We pack and dispatch your order from our home studio in York, UK. Orders are sent by tracked delivery.

How will my order arrive?
Every order gets a little extra care before it leaves us. Your jewellery is individually packed on our branded cards, with a cleaning cloth and a thank-you note, then carefully wrapped in tissue paper and sealed with a Longdog & Whisker sticker inside a protective box.

Have a question about sending a gift? Get in touch.
How long will my order take to arrive?
We usually dispatch orders within one to two working days, using Royal Mail Tracked 48 delivery. Most orders arrive within five working days of being placed, although delivery times are estimates and can occasionally take a little longer.
Once your order is on its way, we’ll email you the tracking details so you can follow its progress.
My order hasn’t arrived yet – what should I do?
We hope your parcel arrives safely! If it hasn’t turned up, please check your tracking information and the delivery address on your order confirmation first.
If tracking says it has been delivered, take a look at the delivery photo. Our parcels are designed to fit through most letterboxes and don’t normally need a signature, so please check your letterbox and ask neighbours if they’ve taken it in or recognise the door in the photo.
If you still can’t find your parcel, please email us at info@longdogandwhisker.co.uk with your order number and any relevant delivery or tracking photos, and we’ll investigate. If the delivery photo shows a door that isn’t yours, a photo of your own front door would also be really helpful when we raise the issue with the courier.
Can I change or cancel my order?
If you need to make a change, please contact us as soon as possible with your order number. If we haven’t started packing your parcel yet, we’ll do our best to help. Once an order has been posted, we’re not able to amend it.
Returns & Issues
What is your returns policy?
We want you to be happy with your jewellery. If there’s a problem with your order, please contact us with your order number and a brief description, and photos if something arrived damaged, and we’ll work out a solution together.
For hygiene reasons, we can’t usually accept returns of earrings that have been worn, unless they are faulty. Please check our full Returns page for all the details before sending anything back.
My item arrived damaged – what happens now?
We’re so sorry if something hasn’t arrived in perfect condition. Please email us at info@longdogandwhisker.co.uk with your order number and photos of the item and packaging, and we’ll help arrange a replacement or refund where appropriate.
Products, Materials & Care
Are your earrings suitable for sensitive ears?
Some of our findings are more suitable for sensitive ears than others, and we’ll always include material information in the product description. If you have metal allergies or sensitive skin, please read the description carefully or contact us before ordering so we can advise on the best options.
Ask us about materials before ordering if you have allergies.
How do I care for my jewellery?
To keep your pieces looking lovely for longer, we recommend:
- Avoiding contact with water, perfume, lotions and hairspray
- Removing jewellery before showering, swimming or sleeping
- Storing pieces in a dry place, away from direct sunlight
- Gently polishing with a soft, dry cloth if they start to dull
Our jewellery is designed for everyday joy, but it will be happiest if treated with a little care.
How does the 3 for 2 offer work?
Choose three eligible earrings or necklaces and pay for two. The lowest-priced eligible item is free. Mix and match participating designs.
