Black Cat Rescue is a small, home-run rescue near Selby, Yorkshire. Founded and led by Jackie, it’s been quietly taking in unwanted, abandoned and stray cats for many years, rehoming hundreds of cats and kittens in that time.

Some of the cats in their care are long-stay residents: former ferals, nervous cats or those with extra needs who need more time, patience and support. Many arrive as mums with kittens, often after having litter after litter outdoors or in unsafe conditions.

The rescue steps in to:

  • Give them safe shelter and proper vet care
  • Break the cycle with neutering
  • Gently socialise shy and scared cats so they can find loving homes

Henry’s Haven Cat Rescue – West Yorkshire

Henry’s Haven Cat Rescue is a foster-based, independent rescue run entirely by volunteers in and around West Yorkshire. Instead of a central shelter, cats are cared for in people’s homes, giving them warmth, comfort and the chance to learn to trust again.

The team focuses on:

  • Strays and abandoned cats on the streets
  • Injured cats needing urgent treatment and surgery
  • Mums and kittens trying to survive outdoors

They cover everything from neutering, microchipping and vaccinations to complex surgeries for seriously injured cats, and they’re constantly fundraising to keep up with rising vet bills.
