Halloween Jewellery Is Not Just For Halloween

I’m going to say something very brave and very obvious: it is never too early for Halloween.

Some people wait until October. Some people wait until the shops start putting pumpkins out. Some people act like Halloween is a single day, which is frankly suspicious behaviour. For me, Halloween is a feeling. It is little ghosts, tiny pumpkins, black cats, bright orange, poisonous green, glittery purple, moon shapes, bats, cobwebs, and anything that looks like it might belong to a cheerful haunted house.

It is goth Christmas, basically.

And yes, I do think you can wear Halloween jewellery all year round.

A Bit Goth, But Make It Bright

I’ve always had a bit of a goth heart. Black clothes, spooky little details, dramatic jewellery, all very much yes please. But I’m not a “everything must be black at all times” person. I love a splash of bright colour too.

That is where Halloween jewellery is perfect.

You can have black and silver for the classic spooky look, but you can also have pumpkin orange, acid green, hot pink, purple glitter, bright red, or silly little ghost jewellery that makes you smile when you catch it in the mirror. Halloween style doesn’t have to be gloomy. It can be cute, camp, dramatic, ridiculous, or weirdly elegant, depending on your mood.

It would be very wrong of me to talk about Halloween jewellery and not mention cats. Black cats, especially. They are spooky, elegant, slightly dramatic, and honestly far too stylish for their own good.

This is my main argument, and I will stand by it while holding a cup of tea and probably buying another ghost-shaped thing I definitely needed.

Pumpkins are not only allowed in October. Ghosts are not legally restricted to Halloween week. Bats do not need a calendar invite. If your personal style has a little spooky edge to it, then it makes sense to let that show all year round.

Some people have floral jewellery. Some people wear stars and moons. Some people love hearts. Some of us want tiny skulls, black cats, pumpkins, ghosts, bats, anatomical hearts, and earrings that look like they might be worn by a friendly witch with excellent taste.

That’s not “too much”. That’s just having a theme.

One thing I really like about spooky jewellery is that it doesn’t have to feel like fancy dress. There is a big difference between wearing a full Halloween costume and wearing earrings that quietly say, “Yes, I would live in a house with creaky floorboards and no regrets.”

• Are they light enough for my ears?
• Do they suit my usual clothes?
• Can I wear them outside Halloween season?
• Do they feel like me, or just like something I bought because it had a pumpkin on it?

There is something brilliant about jewellery because it lets you add personality without shouting over everything else.

A pair of skeleton earrings with a plain black outfit. A ghost necklace with a cosy cardigan. Bat earrings for work, if your workplace is ready for that level of excellence. And if it isn’t, well, tiny bats are a good place to start.

That’s why I love Halloween jewellery so much. It gives people a way to be a bit more themselves. Not in a huge, dramatic, “look at me” way unless you want that, obviously. More like a little wink. A small sign that says, “Yes, I am the sort of person who enjoys a haunted aesthetic and I’m very fine with that.”

Halloween All Year Round

I genuinely believe spooky season should be more of a lifestyle choice than a date range.

If you love pumpkins, wear pumpkins. If ghosts make you happy, wear ghosts. If black cats, bats, skeletons and dramatic little anatomical hearts are your thing, excellent. If you’re secretly planning your Halloween outfit in July, you are among friends here. And if your jewellery box looks like October had a very stylish little accident in it, honestly, good.

Halloween jewellery is fun. It’s expressive. It can be cute, gothic, colourful, silly, dramatic, or surprisingly pretty. And the best bit is that you don’t need permission to wear it whenever you like.

So yes, Halloween is in October.

But goth Christmas?

That can be whenever we say it is.
